“Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters.” Daniel Webster
The second amendment is not about hunting or sport shooting. It is not about you having the ability to defend yourself against a mugger or rapist. These are all legitimate reasons to own firearms, and you should.
The second amendment is about liberty and the people’s ability to stand against tyranny. The United States is truly the last, best hope for freedom in this world. There is simply no one else with the ability to stand against it. Don’t misunderstand me. Ultimately freedom comes from a relationship with Christ. Short and Long-term, on an individual basis, freedom, hope, and satisfaction comes through Him. Having said that, currently in our world, quietly standing on your faith doesn’t keep our nation from falling into tyranny. Christianity through osmosis (I don’t need to share Christ, they will see Him in me) doesn’t work. It is a satanic lie designed to keep Christians quiet. If it did work we would be seeing thousands of people won to Christ. We are not.
Therefore, without the ability to defend yourself, a tyrannical government can put Christians (or anyone else for that matter) against the wall or imprison them, the laws are already on the books to do this. There are simply not enough Christians willing to stand for their faith. Those that have stood in the past and those who will stand in the future are wonderful, strong Christians and God will honor them. But I believe we have an opportunity we might miss if we’re not careful, and the whole world will plunge into tyranny if we do.
So, we find ourselves in the position of being the last country on earth whose people are still armed, whose people have a tradition of liberty, and are powerful enough to make a difference. All the others (powerful enough) have been disarmed. The only thing that stands between us and them is the Constitution and particularly the second amendment. You can not keep the other amendments if the second amendment goes away.
Their people live in varying degrees of tyranny, Yeah, it may currently be soft tyranny, but wait and see what happens if the USA is disarmed. I believe soft tyranny will disappear rather quickly if that is allowed to happen.
There are many Christians who would believe I am completely wrong. That the proper Christian response should be passive. I disagree. Don’t get me wrong, passivity has its place, it’s just not here. It’s just not now. In order for passiveness to work you must have a separate people group that recognizes the wrongs being committed and then becomes indignant and offended at these wrongs and who have influential power to stop the wrongs being committed by the authorities. That other people group no longer exists, we are it. In our world, Christians have always been that group. For example: slavery would not have ended if it weren’t for Christians.
Christianity has been de-masculinated in our society today and whether you like it or not, leadership was given to men and our men are sheep. They were designed by God to be the defenders of liberty, to look to the future and cast a vision for their wives, their children, and their future. Today our men are not vision casters, you have to know where you came from in order to know where you are going and they do not. They are simply sperm donors or food and shelter providers, that’s it! If after all I have written here, you still believe a passive response is the correct response, I suggest you pray, search your heart and oh yeah, have a good time at the wall!
We either stand or we all fall. CR
